Wake Up

Wake Up

by Skatenigs

If there is ever such a thing as goth rap I want credit for it. This song explores the doom and gloom of the world we have created for ourselves. The bass line I wrote on a mini moog at the original Musiclab in Austin.

Lyrics

wake up and tell me how you how you feel
discover for yourself exactly what is real
sedated by the internet and cable t.v.
open up your eyes if you want to be free
if you want to be free then you've got to unplug
they're killing us quietly and it sure ain't with love
its like a drug like you put in your vein
your not paying attention and its going to your brain

HOW CAN WE SLEEP THROUGH SO MUCH

tossing and turning I can't sleep at night
I'm hearing footsteps I can't close my eyes
waiting for the darkness when its safe to go outside
hoping they won't catch me in my favorite place to hide

I feel the eyes in the shadows something just ain't right
the air is kind of still and the silence is too quite
trying to search for something that you just can't see
locked down on earth man I've got to be free
HOW CAN WE SLEEP THROUGH SO MUCH
WHAT WILL IT TAKE TO WAKE US ALL UP
stranger-stranger here comes the danger
it's not a drive-by and its not a gang-banger
its the new world order with heavy duty players
black helicopters and world dominators
red white and blue what does it mean to you
red - red is for the bloodshed and all the people dead
white - white is for the right - the right to keep you quite
blue - the boys in blue - anything you say will be used against you
anything you say will be used against you X 4

BREAK

open up your eyes and take a look around
turn off the t.v. and listen to the sound
put the cell-phone down and tell me what your missing
you can't hear a thing if you never try to listen
tell me what is real and tell me what is fake
who is on the level? and who is on the take?
everybody knows the whole world is corrupt
we've got to tear this whole mother-fucking system up
and people that’s real straight from the heart
tear it all down and make a new start
